It looks solid for that amount you are spending. I would double check all the prices on www.NewEgg.com and see if you can get a better price than Amazon.com. They are known to screw people over on certain products.

There was a note on the build page about updating the motherboards BIOS if you wish to use that CPU. (See the "Motherboard" section)

Just be sure you are ready for that prior to attempting the build.

You could also spend a few days checking Ebay.com for a used system and see what pops up for ~$800.00, or less. You could luck into a bid on a nice system that someone is selling cheap.

Don't cheap on the PSU.

It looks to have decent accolades, but it seems a bit cheap to me. Then again, I'm used to buying much, much, more than this build.

I did have a $1,200 PSU blow itself up, black smoke and all, when it died. Fucking thing sacrificed itself to save the rest of the PC. I didn't have to buy a single extra part other than a new PSU.

Don't cheap out on your NVMe drive. You really should go with a Samsung Evo series, or at least a Western Digital, and one with at least 2TB; 1TB won't get you far. No matter which size you pick, it'll fill up fast- you'll want a secondary, high capacity SATA HDD for storage and less demanding titles. A modular PSU would also be much less of a cable management headache than a traditional one. That RAM has decent speed and timings, which is good for an AMD rig, but 16GB is pushing the bare minimum these days; you'll want 32. You'll be disappointed with that GPU. It's better to buy once, cry once with those.

Luckily, those choices will get you off the ground and you can upgrade the rest later. However, while people will tell you that you can upgrade the RAM later provided that you use the exact same model, it's better to have sticks from the same batch

It'll work. Don't expect a huge amount of work out of it, but you could use it for some gaming, programming, home entertainment, etc. Don't drive a monster monitor with it though. 1920x1080 would be fine for it.

I would recommend a plain, wired, plug-in usb xbox controller for anyone who games. It's cheap, it works in all conditions, and isn't prone to wonkyness or failure. If some game/OS/whatever doesn't like your good controller, you always have a backup.

Don't rely solely on PCpartpicker for pricing, check around a bit for the parts you want. Literally write it down on a piece of paper and check pricing.

If you want to go ultra-cheap, you could use a plywood board to place your parts on. Even add a few boards and make a box if you want. Just be sure to get a couple of 120mm fans to flow some air into/out of it. Or go to your local swap-meet/market/goodwill/equivalent. I wouldn't trust any of the electronics from there (security issues), but you can get a case for like, $5. Buy some crap and just dump the insides.

You might want to double up on the ram though. You have the 4 slots on the MB so you can just add a second order of ram to fill it up to 32gb, which will help you in a variety of situation. It's nice to be able to ignore memory leaks for hours, or experiment with ram-drive or VM stuff.

1TB is nice, but I like to have a second drive just for media shit. I would go with some spinning rust for that, because access times don't matter much for your normal video/audio/whatever stuff. The NVME is very nice for your OS, games, and other disk-intensive stuff.

DM me if you want more specific advice. I'll need more info for what you want to use the thing for.

Here's what I would change:

https://pcpartpicker.com/list/JHdPL9 (Be sure you do not buy from Amazon 3rd Party Sellers!)

Also, check here for Win 11 Pro. Currently $40, but frequently on sale for cheaper.

Depends what you're trying to do. I spent $3k on my pc in 2016 and it is still a beast now. And it is higher spec than what you got there. But also I made my company buy me it, so there's that.

I can attest Thermaltake and XFX do not suck. Get more RAM...its not much and makes everything better.

Personally think you can get more power for cheaper if you look for older (9-18mo) CPUs...Likely better price and more motherboard options.

Editing my recommended list from earlier. Get the 3600 RAM from Newegg instead (coupon code $3 off and free ship).

Also, if you have an HDD you can discard, use the Recycle Program at Western Digital and get 15% off of an SN850X instead of getting the SN770.

I just bought an OLED Steam Deck.
It's awesome.
I can officially declare, gaming desktops are dead.
