More true now than ever!

Care to elaborate?

Simply,no one give's a rat's ass about anyone other than themselves.

Easily provable by the actions others demonstrate. ie: Man abandons family in face of a tragic occurrence.

Very true and it's amazing how a couple can spend years apparently in love and then break up with the opposite emotion! We shouldn't expect too much of people e.g. partners, and we should always strive to be emotionally independent.

Is that really a good reason to love yourself? What if they're right?

I guess what I'm getting at is that we are all self-indulgent to varying degrees but if no-one else indulges you by listening to you about your hopes, dreams, aspirations and fears then...talk to yourself.

I'm just saying, "every other person refusing to love you" is a questionable basis for loving yourself. It would be 'more okay' if you loved yourself despite no one else loving you, if you get my drift.

Fair enough. Sometimes I feel too self-absorbed when I dwell on the events in my life, big and small, but then I tell myself it's ok if you're not boring someone stupid with them and it's particularly ok if no-one else is interested - which they aren't! What is important to us is...important to us and we shouldn't feel self-indulgent by engaging in introspection - just shut up about it!

That's not necessarily true. How else would you know how to live if not through the examples of other people? Yeah, that's led to modern jewish society, but also to things like how to make an omelet, or discovering how much better duck eggs are compared to chicken eggs. Not to be too eggcentric this late at night.

Yes but you're talking about "big ticket items" that someone could perhaps be expected to find interesting whereas I'm talking of life's minutiae. The small stuff that is only of interest to us but which shaped our lives.

You've got a wife, neri, you're supposed to love your wife.

They love eachother equally - to the best of their retarded abilities.

Wrong! I think I care far more about my wife than she does me. I think my only value to her is that I look after the brain-deprived lunatic. I mean...who in their right mind doesn't read their mail ffs "Oh! The Tax Office is suing me for unpaid tax"; "Oh! Medibank is stopping my health coverage for unpaid premiums"...and so on.
