i disagree, its never fun to sail out to sea under stormy conditions. you might find an early exit from this existence if a tornado or a strong storm passes you by. being stupid and not prepared has its consequences

I like foul weather sailing; that is why I have the boat I have. We sailed home from our last trip in the tail of a storm in 30 knot breezes. Leeward scuppers in the sea pretty much the whole way. I know that flat is fast, but my crew was uncooperative in my reefing efforts, so I just dealt with the hand I was... uh, dealt.

But I retract my 'faggotboat' statement; the right tool for the right job. I suck at fishing. But I can sail in whatever weather. Aside from dead calms; those suck.

i think that these people maybe dead. specially if they HAD a strong storm or tornado THAT was passing nearby. they might be in the shark's bellies as we speak.

the first that you do before going out is to check the forecast for the area that you are about to sail off. second, is to have either an onboard emergency beacon or radio just for cases like this.

third, to be prepared with lifesavers just in case your boat capsizes for whatever reason.

fourth, limit the intake of alcohol. that can be deadly in the open seas.

I've been watching a lot of videos about shipwrecks lately. The stupidity and cowardice of some people who end up at sea is fucking ASTOUNDING.

This guy never sailed before, has he? Any sane sailor would've seen the conditions you described and said "Well, maybe tomorrow".
