Anyone else find Irish female names captivating?

submitted by UncleDoug to PaganFarmRemembers 1.3 yearsFeb 13, 2024 21:41:09 ago (+12/-0)     (PaganFarmRemembers)

Bring back Celtic cultural names:

Aoife: Pronounced EE-fa, this name comes with a lovely meaning for your little lady: “beauty.” The moniker originates from the old Irish girls’ name Aífe and the word oíph. You’ll find Aoife in several Irish legends, including the Children of Lir.

Ciara: Pronounced kee-ARR-ah. Ciara comes from the Gaelic word ciar, meaning “dark,” and recalls the ancient Celts who used appellations to describe appearances. Ciara means “dark-haired” and was reserved for those whose hair and eyes resembled the captivating night sky.

Niamh: Pronounced NEEV, it means “bright.” In Irish mythology, Niamh was the daughter of Manannán mac Lir, the sea god.

Saoirse: Pronounced SHEER-sha. Meaning “freedom” in Irish Gaelic

Fionola: Pronounced FEE-ohn-ohla. Meaning White-Shoulder

Morgan: Pronounced Maw-guhn. Morgan is also frequently used as a girl's name and is from the Old Welsh name, Morgen, meaning “sea-born,” and the Irish name Muirgen, meaning "born of the sea."

Aisling: Pronounced ASH-ling. This name means "dream" or "vision" from the Gaelic word ‘aislinge’ and refers to an “aisling,” which is a poetic genre of Irish language poetry from the late 17th century. It only started being used as a first name in the 20th century. The poetic genre has been personified in Ireland as a beautiful woman in peril.

I have a good Irish name, often misspelled by dumbarses and ethnics. Can't tell you what it is though!

Seamus? I’m not Irish so I’m a dumbass not a dumbarse ;)

No, not Seamus or Sean or any male name.... lol.

Thinking about this is depressing me now. I have a very big family with lots of good Irish names and some us are now chinkyfying the gene pool 😭

I knew a girl named Siobhan. Not gonna get into the details, but it's because of her that I visited Mara Lago a few times and met Trump. This was back in the late 90's.

Siobhan. Sounds like shivon. That’s one I know, someone with that name.

Saoirse isn't a name used in Ireland though. It's a modern hippie name, like if you named your kid Freedom. Might as well name her Moon Unit.

But Aonad na Gealaí is a beautiful name, almost poetic.

I can't pronounce any of them unless I've known someone with the name.

I suppose I kind of like Saoirse.

I hate Ciara, because too many niggers and whores have similar sounding names.

I don't like the sound of Aoife, Niamh and Fionola. Would prefer Morgan with a more British or American sound.

As for Aisling, I'd just go with Ashley, because "ling" reminds me of halflings and other odd fantasy creatures, not to mention Chinese.

I visited Ireland and met 7 Shannon’s while I was there. Three women and four men. They really like that name.

Sidhbh Gallagher is the Irish doctor chick in Florida who goes by 'Dr Teetus Deletus' on tiktok. Not the best example of an Irish person.

Oh is that the cunt who “yeets” the teets?

[ - ] Sector2 1 point 1.3 yearsFeb 14, 2024 12:02:04 ago (+1/-0)

The same. There's probably still a huge thread on her on kiwifarms with her bizarre tweets/toks and her joking pics of her mutilated victims.

I like how their legs move a million miles an hour but their heads stay still.

I got dragged to "Lord of the Dance" and I was sure that I'd be gayer leaving than when I went in but, nope, I liked it. I love the theater now or at least my boyfriend tells me I do.

Bahahahaha you finally outed yourself

Gaelic pronunciations always crack me up.
But anyway Saoirse is pronounced sersha.
You also missed one of the most popular ones, Siobhan.
