I was pretty big into pre-consumer VR with the Oculus DK2. Spent hundreds of hours replaying DooM, II, and countless .wads in VR. From 2015 through 2018 I logged over 3,000hrs in Elite: Dangerous- most of that in that relatively primitive Development Kit. When you spend that much time in, it certainly does start warping your reality, and you take on subconscious perspectives from each world, and even dream it. It got weird. I upgraded to nicer headsets eventually but thankfully the magic allure of escapism faded.

Still, there's nothing quite like spending a day flying IN your spacecraft, falling alseep somewhere, and waking up in the same cockpit, only it's now on fire and half a dozen alarms are going off as systems are malfunctioning. Moments like this.
