That tennis ball would have to be pretty dense to negate the effects of earths gravity. As far as ball earth goes, gravity totally explains why we, oceans, and the atmosphere are attracted to it.

Haven't been to a state fair since walking through the livestock area in the 70s. No idea what a graviton is, or why it would be at a state fair.

You'd only get relevant results for a "water on a ball" experiment completely outside of earths gravity field.

why is the atmosphere layered in elements by density?

I'm not a physicist, but I'd guess gravity exerts a greater pull on more dense elements? (side note: I'm a great 'fan' of carbon dioxide, and in the past have spent thousands on it to feed my plants.)

Just gravity. Molecules close enough are attracted. Reportedly the same with "space dust", with some number of tons entering our gravity well daily. Think something with a similar effect to static electricity, or magnetic attraction. Over a period of time, this process leaves little outside of gravity wells.

Or at least that's how I think about it. For all we know, all of this could be a simulation that our limited senses perceive as reality.
