They grow up hearing a corrupted version of English so that's what they use to communicate. It's cruel and it ruins them for life, but that's just the way it is. Same goes for the northeast.

I spent parts of my childhood in both, but luckily I had learned valid English previously. You can consciously avoid the degeneracy if you're diligent, which I was.
