I think the modern thing is to grab the forward grip by it's side. At least that's what I've seen the younger folk doing in videos.

NEA CSS Compact Carbine Collapsible. It's hard to find and looks a little jank; if I was going to go that route I'd opt for one of Maxim Defense's models.
