"Why DON'T you spell out the requirements....blah, blah, blah". In this case, it's saying what drivers are needed for a computer recovery (we're going to dissimilar hardware).

"We have. You may not understand at this level, but when we say implement the image using drivers from the company hardware standard, that's all we need to have the vendor translate into useable, technical requirements. We have a company standard of what hardware is viable and we lifecycle that out every 5 years. Plus, saying we need X video driver or Y peripheral driver doesn't make sense because that WILL change over time and it's doesn't make sense to hardwire one driver in the code. We'll just get a CMDB and keep that repository up to date with what hardware is used".

Keep a paper trail and write him up everytime he screws up. After several write up's,put him on probation. After 6 months of probation, state in termination all of his screw ups. When he screams descrimination you have the back up with your paper trail.
