I was building solar powered arduino wifi nodes a couple years ago, equipped with lasers aimed at light sensors on streetlamps. The nodes would detect my phone, which direction I was travelling, and then fire the lasers appropriately to darken my path.

I hate streetlights. Fuck your spy sats and balloons. I have a right to darkness.

Total cost per node was about $30

Lora is often used for remote reading of water and power meters not just human communication.

This guys channel has many good videos on the subject

They're pretty neat. There's a few networks in the area around me. I've had about a 30% failure rate on the radios I ordered a few years back though.

I'd say get one for each of your vehicles, plate carriers, and placed statically anywhere you can reach that's high up. I heard you can integrate them with atak, but I've yet to dig in that far.

Semtech owns the technology and the largest investors are Blackrock and Vanguard.

You mean, "hazard a guess".

When it's time to do laundry, it's time. That, or buy clean clothes.

Nobody "owns" the tech, bro. It's open source.

So is the hardware.
