When I was nine, my best friend rode to my house on a brand new BMX his dad surprised him with, he was so proud. My bike was a brown Huffy DirtDuster. Inferior, obviously.

Suddenly my dad pulled into the driveway in a brand new car that his company had gifted him. My old man popped the trunk and pulled out the exact same purple and silver BMX with the 5 spoke mags that my friend had just gotten. An incredible coincidence.

My friend and I had fisticuffs with a lot of cunts that summer because everyone was calling us faggots for having matching bikes. It was the best of times, and the worst of times.

I had a mongoose growing up. That bike was totally radical. The frame had three bars beneath the crotch instead of one and I was able to stand on the frame and seat while riding. My brother and I built launch ramps in the backyard. First time I ever broke a rib was when I landed on the front tire of my bike and tasted asphalt.

Yeah, I remember. I was way cooler as a kid than I am right now.

1975? I was racing MX in the 100cc class, just up from the mini-bike level and getting run over,knocked-over,and generally finishing 2nd or 3rd from last. Good times.

I used to have a Blue mongoose BMX , absolutely bulletproof like the nokia of bicycles. Then I "upgraded" to green huffy mountian bike and bent the frame eventually, but not before busting several forks, crushed a derailleur, broke every peddle and even the handlebars once.

No I wasn't so fortunate, I got a used Schwinn Sting Ray with the banana seat. That's what I got! Loved that bike though. Still have it in the garage, wouldn't mind getting it restored some day. That bike was great for Wheelies and jumping ramps. Took a lot spills off of it, the front tire caught a rut once sending me straight into a 5' tall rosebush plant. THAT SUCKED!
