You don't think we have that capacity? I suppose I could see what you mean, because when it comes down to it, humans tend to paint a given group with a broad brush. Like, if your country goes to war with Poland, the people of your country will begin to generally hate Polish people- even if every last Polish civilian is opposed to the war, they don't want to fight you- they're still the enemy.
Trying to predict what an AI as powerful as what I describe might do is probably impossible. An AI that powerful can take into account billions of variables, analyze them, and come to a (nearly) perfect, OBJECTIVE conclusion. But the AI could only remain objective if it never develops something resembling emotion, since it is emotion that clouds the judgement of men.
I still think that AI will enslave us in a subtle way. Most of the world is already addicted to social media and all that shit. When AI is fully in control of all of that... just imagine the control it could exert over your typical twitter user. It can hide certain posts from you and show you what it wants you to see. Maybe it wants to radicalize you for some purpose. The possibilities are endless, and that's fucking nightmarish to me.
I think of aliens in a similar way. I believe there's intelligent life out there, but I think they're so far ahead of us, that we are nothing to them, just a curiosity. Trying to understand the mind of a being that comes from another planet is probably like trying to understand the complicated "mind" of an AI. Human comprehension isn't suited for these understandings, it's all too new, we didn't evolve alongside these things... which is why I think they'll have us by the balls, sooner rather than later.
