Avoid the late war (late 44 to April 45) German P38's, the fit, finish, and metallurgy tend to be poor. Also the post war French police contract model P38's are pretty rare and kinda neat.

Yeah, the French police contract models can fetch a good price if in good shape. They were called "Grey ghosts" because of the parkerized finish and Grey sheet metal grips. They regularly fetch $800-$1000 in good shape.
