How can I send someone money anonymously?

I want to send someone money, charity, and don't want them to know its me. Before stuffing money in an envelope and mailing it, is there a better way to send the money to make sure they get it? Anonymous check? Anonymous money order? Some way that if they don't "cash the anonymous check" I don't lose the money?

Talk to neighbors and have them give a gift on behalf of the entire neighborhood - helping out a neighbor in time of need because [insert reason here]. Give them a smaller cash gift and ask to remain anonymous. They don’t have to know about your rocky relationship with whoever you want to help.

As a bonus, whoever you want to help will become part of a revitalized community.

I don't know about this stuff. That's why I'm asking. If they don't "cash the money order" do I get to keep the money? I'll research it.

I don't want to keep it. I just dont want it it to go to waste. I don't want the person to receive it in the mail and toss it in the trash.

A postal money order will be refunded after some number of months of not being cashed. I forget the number of months though. You could probably ask them for details or look it up.
