Dunno why you were downvoted, it's true. Once upon a time animals had to provide value by looking after livestock or by keeping vermin away, now they are often seen as a replacement for children.
I'd applaud someone who wants to save a dog from drowning but to say they're sacrificing a whole day of work and being heroic is disingenuous.
