I saw one of those conspiracy theory posts like "how can you fit 60 000 gallons of fuel in a plane???", and obviously that's silly, but I didn't actually know what the fuel tank of a 747 is like, and a quick google brought me to this video, which is super impressive to learn about! So at least the crackpots were useful for one thing. 😃

Yeah, those tanks are pretty big.

I have heard that the fuel also partially gives the wings structure as well

I want to see the belly tank. I've heard that's like a small living room. Also, the passenger (non-freighter) models had tanks in the horizontal stabilizer as well.

Having not seen the inside of a wing tank before, that amount of fuel does seem a little extraordinary.

Well I know that on the submarine I was on had a tank between the bulkhead to the engine room from aft missile Bay.

Dude it was a 42ft wide circumference and 3ft I think. Might have been 6? But was a fucking lot.

Could run a fairbanks and Morris 38 and 1/8 bore train engine for a loooooooooooog time.

There are tanks in the rear too.

It takes a long time to bunker fuel from the tender to fill that.

Indeed it does. Never part of that aboard an SSBN. Did stores loads at sea.

Is that guy 9" tall, or am I expected to believe you can stand upright inside the wing of an old 747?

Have you ever seen a wing before?

He's taller than 9 inches, but they did hire midgets to promote the whole "passenger airplane" scam.
