To answer the title genuinely and sincerely:

Growing up in the 60s in my southern California agricultural city of 170,000 people, nights were very quiet, although on Fridays and Saturdays in the summer, there were baseball games at a nearby field with the local college. My house was on a higher elevation, and when I was sleeping in my parents' bedroom on the second floor, so I could see the light from the field lights and hear muffled sounds from the announcer as he called play, and once in a while there would be "crack" and the sound of the spectators as they cheered a hit. I still reminisce about that.

Another sound that I still hear today, even though the city has become larger, is the sound of the trains as they passed through, blaring their horns, that would echo and reverberate, with the sound of the low rhythmic rumbling of the train wheels over the track. That is incredibly sentimental to me, and I'm glad I'm still able to hear it now to remind me of my childhood.

But to answer the meme, yes, I heard that every time my dad worked on the family car. Didn't everyone's family?

Sometimes it's hard to read shit like this and not be resentful. The world has changed so much. I know it's not you fault, but...

Thanks, I guess, but what do you mean by "but..."?

The sound of a 2 1/2" leather belt whipping through about 10 belt loops one handed. thunk, thunk, thunk thunk thunk boop!

C'mere boy.

"HOLD THAT LIGHT STILL!"
That's what I heard in the garage. Along with, "hand me that wrench", or, "the thingamajigg is broke".

I lived at the end of the road. Nothing but woods and wildlife all around us. Sometimes we would listen to the wildcats scream. In the summers the bugs would get so loud that I couldn't sleep.

I was about 14 before I learned that my name was not "get wood damnit". LOL

My dad told me that if you want to be able to buy things without looking at the price tag, you must work without looking at the clock.
