Beef tallow and pork fat is always healthier than those oils. Mix it all with lamb and duck fat and your meals will taste 100x better.

100% this. Olive oil is for salad. I don't recommend salad, ever.

Must be from an animal that lived some kind of a natural life and this isn't a trivial detail.

Costco. They test that it's pure olive oil. Currently, we're still working off the stuff we bought in Portugal and brought home. Brought enough for the neighbors on both sides of us as well.

Also use Ghee and although my mom saved her bacon grease in the skillet, we don't do that, so only have bacon grease when we eat bacon. Don't eat enough duck or lamb to save that either.

WinCo brand. It's cheap and decent enough. I also get coconut oil and Tillamook butter-butter. They have the smallest number of ingredients.

+1 on the Coconut Oil, Love that stuff!

Coles extra virgin. No reason 'cept it seems ok and its cheap - like me!

Thanks Paul, I'll have to see if it's available in the States. So, were you born in Aussie, or did you migrate there? (Hope I haven't asked you this before - if so, please pity me.)

Brand name worship. It's olive oil. The only thing to avoid is globalist's brands.

Who owns the company and who is the largest investor. It's a two second look up on the internet.

Usually one of Traitor Joe's brands.

Olive oil is garbage. In our house, it's either butter or lard, and that's it. No oils allowed.

Good authentic Olive Oil is far healthier than butter.

[ - ] SumerBreeze 2 points 1.4 yearsJan 19, 2024 18:55:28 ago (+2/-0)

Ghee is better than both for cooking - which is a product from butter that doesn’t burn as quickly!

[ - ] iSnark [op] 1 point 1.4 yearsJan 19, 2024 18:59:55 ago (+1/-0)

I tried Ghee once and I found it gross.

Right tool for the right job, man. The missus knows how to do great things with that stuff; I guess I get something for paying for her to go to culinary school...

Nah. Butter will always be the king of fats.

[ - ] iSnark [op] 2 points 1.4 yearsJan 19, 2024 18:54:40 ago (+2/-0)

I like them both. Each has their purpose.

[ - ] lord_nougat 1 point 1.4 yearsJan 19, 2024 19:29:03 ago (+1/-0)

...and sometimes, just bacon grease. Because it makes everything better.

Who told you that? "The universe". The paid internet activists and media hags writing articles they were told to write for pay?

Based on corrupt money licking "researchers"

Real Olive Oil is good for you. It has nothing to do with the universe! Research Sardinia, Italy, and the longevity their people experience. I'm not fully crediting this to "Olive Oil", but REAL Olive Oil is a key component of their diet.

A quote I found in an article" (Linked Below)

People in Acciaroli tend to eat locally caught fish, home-reared rabbits and chickens as well as olive oil and home-grown vegetables and fruit.

I seem to remember them attributing their lower rates of heart diseases to tomatoes as well. I personally use olive oil because it's supposed to be less shitty for your heart. But I also use tons of butter. I switched to olive oil after hearing that coconut oil is bad for you. Used that for years...

Realistically everyone is different and genetics play a large part in tolerances for different foods.

I won't have to worry about this shit when I'm dead.

[ - ] yesiknow 0 points 1.4 yearsJan 22, 2024 03:00:50 ago (+0/-0)

All that says is they appear to eat food, not brand name swill.

[ - ] parrygrin 0 points 1.4 yearsJan 19, 2024 21:15:14 ago (+0/-0)

Olive oil is good when it's raw--animal fats are better as cooking oils.

Other posts here about fitting the right ingredient to the right task are spot on. It's a lot more complicated than "healthy" and "unhealthy".

Completely agree, I wouldn't endeavor to put butter on a Caesar Salad, nor Olive Oil on flap jacks...
I ask a very simple question, What's your goto brand of Olive Oil", and these Motherfuckers are pulling Ghee out of their ass! Just answer the question IF you use Olive Oil!
