I've never tried indian food. I don't trust it either.
I have wondered though, does it all really taste like curry, shit, and flip-flops?

No, some is very good. Many Indian restaurants used to have lunch buffets, it’s a great way to learn how some dishes taste. Looking at a menu is very intimidating to the uninformed.

I make a few Indian dishes, I did buy this stuff long ago but never used it more than once.
The garam masala, cumin, coriander and turmeric are my go to spices.
