I woke up to almost a foot of snow this morning and it's still coming down. Power outages all across my area - Thankfully it didn't hit me but it did affect my mom who didn't have power for 12 hours until this morning & she woke up freezing cold & didn't have heat or hot water until 9am. I'm fuckin pissed because she's elderly & has been going through a lot of BS with her condo which is a fuckin lemon - her hot water heater broke 6 weeks ago & flooded her basement & she went without hot water for almost 2 weeks and had to buy one of those portable water heaters to hook up to a shower head. I'm pretty pissed off that she has to deal with all this bullshit.
I'm at -30°c but just old frozen snow, about a foot deep. It's crazy to think that a foot of snow would cause you power outages. Every time it snows here, it's about a foot at least.
I wanna move to the south but my body can't tolerate humidity. It gets really humid in the late summer in my area and I get nauseous from it. I couldn't live in Florida.
I've adapted to cold weather but hate it when it dips under 20 degrees but would rather bare that then sweating profusely in high humidity. I can tolerate high temps in dry weather.
Dry heat lol. I've been to Arizona, Phoenix. The asshole of the state. That dry heat feels like a hair dryer constantly snapping the essence outta you.
I'd rather it be humid than that God forsaken shit. Sweat doesn't even help you, and neither does human will. I'd rather sweat my balls off in a Florida swamp than freeze them off in the high desert.
I prefer dry heat over sweat pouring from every pore of my body - I at least can adapt to cold temps overnight and still feel comfortable walking around in 80+ degree weather. I lived in Nevada when I was I was kid and really liked it. I hated when I had to move back "home" to the Midwest.
Yes, I hate humidity. I pour sweat and it's so humid, that the sweat doesn't even evaporate to cool you off like it's supposed to. Just hot and wet all day and chaffed raw on the inner thighs and like a diaper rash from wearing wet underwear all day. It's miserable.
You'd get use to it, just like anything else really. Your body is more adaptable than you realize. Also, if humidity is something you're worried about move to the East Coast. There's always a fresh breeze coming off the Atlantic. The inner part of the state can be oppressively humid, but the coast is paradise. It's literally nice all year, as long as you have bug repellent.
There's also a thriving music scene, and I think you're into that. There's live music everywhere, every night. All genres. I don't tell many people this, but you'd be welcome and at home here.
We are expecting a total of 35 to 40 inches by Tuesday. I started my day sawing trees up that blocked the road and plowing before it turned into hard pack. Rest of the week showed be lows near zero and 69 to 70 mph winds. JOY!
Only about 2 inches but it's about 4 degrees with wind chill so no one is driving in this. Power has been going in and out. Tons of destruction from the wind and ice so far.
I just went through a tornado and it ripped the GD shingles off muh roof and I'm pissed. and I have no power. Trees down everywhere so who tf knows when they get that shit back on. and its cold af.
I have to plow my own roads with my truck. I usually have to plow a mile-ish to reach the states work. They get mad at me for plowing it, but they won't plow it.
-36 here with a windchill of -58. Only around 3-4 inches of snow. Another two days of extreme cold. Never seen it like this before. Must be the globull warming.
Sorry to hear that about your Mom! That is complete bullshit. Is there an hoa? Are you able to help her out? No elderly should be putting up with that.

Unusual frost on rooftops the other morning, but it doesn't snow here at sea level. Every 5 or 10 years there'll be snow at 3000 feet or so.
Global cooling has hit hard here. If forecast is correct, another January missing any days at 70F or above. 30 years ago, there were 5 to 10 days at 70F or above in January, but it gradually dropped to none a couple years ago.
i'm in NH, surprised that we don't have more snow this year. Although plenty of winter left. I have a tractor, plow on the fel. I bail my neighbors out all the time. Can't say enough about having a tractor.. Will be putting the wood stove to the test this week once the cold drops in

Screw the extreme stuff, but just once it would be nice to actually see a few flakes of snow here.
