Victims are almost always responsible for their own results. A very small percentage of victims contributed little or nothing, but are just unlucky.

It bothers me how fucking communist we have uncritically become in our embrace of the term 'price gouging' as if the normal market dynamics of supply and demand don't apply in times of emergency when explosions of demand destroy on-hand supply and rapidly drive prices outside the normal realm of acceptability.

Price fixing and attempts at market manipulation are why our economic system stopped working decades ago. Either we trust in the mathematical realities of a free market or we do little more than indulge the illusion in times of relative normalcy. This illusion is a critical threat to the consumer in times of permanent inflation, but that's a whole other conversation.

Price gouging is a bullshit and reactionary term that convicts the model for the behavior of the outlier.
