I see many people talking about this movie. They say it's about a conspiracy. Can somebody tell why it's so popular, and why people are saying the ending is stupid?
It takes place in the world of Mr. Robot, although it is not written or directed by Sam Esmail. It's kind of ok fan-fiction level storytelling. It has its moments.
In the end it left me with nothing - there are no lessons to learn unless you don't know the basics of the world we live in.
It can be viewed as hopeful if you think it's OK to watch and talk about the TV show Friends - things perhaps return to "normal" in some capacity.
It can also be viewed as "us" learning nothing if all we want to get back to is stupid escapism. In this case, maybe we are doomed to repeat our failures.
All in all, normalfag entertainment that didn't make me want to gouge out my eyes the whole time.
Modern entertainment explicitly tells the audience what to think and feel. This is a traditional story where you have to do some rudimentary interpretation of the ending (is it good it ended this way? bad? It's up to you to interpret). You are required to think a tiny bit at the end of the movie and that frustrates people. Usually they say it's "dumb".
