What we have is not democracy, democracy is the rule by the people, where people vote on what our government does.

Representative democracy is not actually democracy, it is a glorified popularity contest that is guaranteed to put well-connected psychopaths into position of power above us.

Reality TV proved Plato correct, it was always the highest scorers on the dark triad that ended up winning the votes. So too is it that our society is run by such individuals working together because we trusted elected officials to rule over us.

Direct democracy is the only democracy that is even somewhat defensible at this point.

Even that is bullshit though, as we can know what the only laws and policies we need are, we need the principle of non-aggression, that's all the laws we need right there, and we need the institutions required to give substance to these laws, such as the police and military and tax collectors who take the funding necessary for the minimal government, wed also need a nationalized central bank to produce the money of the federal economy and keep our country self-sovereign. Aside from that all the things we need will be organized out of the private people.

Sounds like something a African warlord would say.
