The Pantheon is about 2000 years old... Yet the half-life of modern concrete is only about 20 years. Go figure.

Seawater Strengthens Roman Concrete.

Waterproof Roman concrete is still as functional today as it was 2000 yrs ago, so this stuff about concrete only lasting 15 yrs is bs. Wiki.

Worked on a small power plant in Grit, Va. back in the 90's... We built a 4 acre water treatment/containment/settling pond out of concrete. The Supt. insisted on adding "superplaster" (liquid calcium carbonate) to the concrete mix so it would set faster... Within 6 months of finishing the project, the engineers condemned every square inch of concrete because it had set too fast - Becoming brittle and covered in hair-line cracks (about a 2 million dollar fuckup). Every bit had to be demolished and re-done.
