Any free speech GitLab/GitHub alternatives?

submitted by my_password_is_same_as_my_user to technology 4 monthsJan 1, 2024 05:26:22 ago (+5/-0)     (technology)

Hi,

I'm looking to host a "nigbot" project where nigbot clients send the word nigger to random IP addresses across the world and nigbot servers log any time they receive the word nigger.

Obviously I want to share this project with the world but I won't be able to if I use GitHub or GitLab. Microsoft's GitHub has a dedicated hate speech policy so that's a no go. GitLab also has an acceptable use policy that doesn't allow anything vulgar and anything uploaded has to not breach their code of conduct.

I'm going to look for freedom loving alternatives but it would help if any of you knew anything already. Thanks 👍

Ok, from what I found so far GitGud and GitLain might be what I'm looking for. I'll look more into this later. Happy 2024 everyone.

You can run gitlab locally, your own instance. And no one can do shit about it...

Was about to say you probably want to host your own devops instance, maybe still so if the lower network effect of a smaller "platform" isn't enough.

If you aren't taking submissions / it's open source but not open contribution, you don't even need outward devops, just downloads and/or a repository link for pull.

This sounds fun, I hope it causes a load of admins wondering why nigger packets arrive. I assumed UDP while reading your post because it sounded like a connectionless system, though that's an interesting question - what transport protocol were you imagining?

Well I'm still thinking of everything I want to accomplish out of this. I want to be known for being responsible for the word nigger being transported/produced the most times in human history. If you have a gigabit connection you can send the word nigger over a quadrillion times in two years so long as you take care of overhead properly. It'd be nice to have a "nignet" for any computer running these nigbots to support stuff like chat, file transfers, web hosting, and a bunch of other stuff. Anyone can write what I wrote in the OP in less than 30 lines in most languages. This is more of a thought experiment type of thing.

... nigger-mail...

"Yo dawg I sent you an N-mail"

Relabel NTP as Nigger Time Protocol (always late)
Then you can start on the NWW (Nigger Wide Web) (like the web but only pictures cuz readin be hard)

You could start NOOGLE.com
There's a lot to work with here.

Already in the running for best goat quote 2024!

Nigbots may have to mind any service thresholds for flooding or that a few large nigbots could end up on block lists. Volume aside, I suggest also that they each generate random permutations of the address space rather than individually random addresses, skipping any invalid/reserved of course. For example, they could choose a prime number P narrowly larger than 32 bits, then choose a random 32-bit starting address A and walk via repeated multiplying by A mod P. Could also generate 32 linearly independent bitmasks and use sequential XOR, although analysing that will reveal predictability.
