This kind of thing has been happening since the dawn of cinema. Usually a director chooses actresses that fit their ideal of beauty. Their ideal is going to be largely informed by their own genetics. I would not be surprised if somewhere in showbusiness there is some dude with a mother with widespread eyes like that.
