I often contemplate the superiority of Japanese animation. What you said does not seem true to me however. I have 7 children, and due to the degeneracy of modern children's programming I mostly have my children watch Japanese animated versions of shows like Heidi, the Jungle Book, Superbook, and such.

Some shows are episodic, some are serial, and that is also my experience with American shows.
