Guys: I need a backpack

I have that North Face Router Transport and it is ideal, but it has unfortunately been discontinued. As you can see, it is pretty big but without being a hiking backpack. It can hold a 17” laptop and has a 40L capacity, but still fits under an airplane seat. I like that it toploads like traditional backpacks and isn’t trying to be a hipstery suitcase or something.

Anyway, if any of you know anything about backpacks, please add to the thread.

I just need it for general fagging: Cavorting, Traipsing, Sashaying…maybe a little lisping—nothing too serious.

You guys aren’t listening to what I’m saying here. You’re all suggesting military/style rucksacks or giant, camping packs. I thought I explained pretty succinctly the kind of bag I’m looking for.

I’m in the Castro district of San Francisco. I’m enjoying a low-cal fro-yo after a grueling, 90-minute session of improvisational jazz tap at the local dance studio. My leotard is soaked and I have to get home in 20 to shower and PREP myself for Raoul and Chester before 5. I simultaneously prepare a hydrating face mask, a vinegar enema and a soothing rectal tincture…oh wait: NO I DON’T, BECAUSE I REMEMBER THAT I DON’T HAVE A SUITABLE BACKPACK TO STORE THAT IN ALONG WITH MY HIV MEDS ,SHIT-ENCRUSTED SEX TOYS AND ITALIAN VOGUE MAGAZINES.

To be honest I think what happen was they were a good a product for people actually using their products the way they were designed. Then people who didn't really use their products came along and started purchasing their products as a fashion statement. Then they went faggy and woke. The rest is history.

Buy an Army service 3 day assault pack.
They are specifically designed for carry on travel.
The one I had was among the best.
Lots of pockets.
I had some 5.56 squirreled away in a pocket that was easily forgotten.
Probably stayed there for years.
Then, one day, it went through an X-Ray machine at an airport.
Luckily I was going through fast track security check in for military.
Not for civillians.
The screening agents were military police, not TSA.
He said, "OH, yeah, happens all the time" confiscated my contraband, gave me an extra shake down and sent me on my way.

You call that a backpack?...it's more like a backpurse...I've got several packs and all are "Woods" trapper packs, good for 80lbs of cargo, heavy double stitched leather shoulder straps that you can hang from...these backpacks almost define a person today...the bigger the pack the stronger the man...don't take it as a mock I'm only stating my perception of what I see, fucking packsacks were a major part of my life...to me it's either a packsack or a backpurse...note I had to edit because my tablet was choking out and I had to send it off

I need it to be 40L-42L so it can be a carry-on for planes and stow under a seat. Those giant bags aren’t versatile like that.

Let me find the smaller version of my MILLE bag. You can add accessory packs as necessary and even have packs with certain items organized so you can just hook up whatever you need for the day. I use it for my galoshes and poncho, but I also have just a very compact raincoat and even one with a sewing kit and other repair items if I may be out for a while and need my items like a dress shirt to not be damaged.

My wife bought an Osprey that has wheels for getting on/off planes and down the concourse. Has backpack straps as well. Not sure the model number. She actually has bought @10-12 of the fuckers trying to find the one she loves. We stuffed them all in a closet. That's the one now. Last trip to Schizzerland/France/Portugal she got around like a champ. Let me use her second fav, which I didn't give enough of a shit to remember the name. Go look on the Osprey site.

Normal backpack shopping season ends in September.

I've had good luck with Jansport backpack holding up. Ones nowadays are sized to fit laptops better than before.

I like swiss tech backpacks. Padded pocket for a laptop, sturdy construction, and still carry on sized. I can't recommend a specific model but they have lots.

I carry all my camping gear in it. Tent, cot, sleeping bag, and chair all fit. Fits in an overhead storage for domestic travel. Bag is all about pure volume. None of that sissy shit like organization compartments for your camera lenses.
