The recent trend with cases (meaning 5-7 years) has been super-minimalist for the low to mid range. The biggest difference to older cases is that most now utilize the front for rads and fans; no HDD/accessory drive trays there. Some don't have any I/O up front- just power button. Next build will probably see a server case.
As for the vehicle... Probably a product of too much time and money, for seeking validation. Or a PR stunt. Probably the former.
