Yes, but guys that agree to a firm price for a build are not gonna dick around making lap joints, esp mexicans that can barely use a pencil

No argument here on your comment, but, in fairness, this video was geared toward the DYIer.

It is the better connection, yes (I am a carpenter). PROTIP: squirt some polyurethane adhesive in there before screwing it down. Put a dab on the screw heads too. Aint no beaner gonna do it.

That's shmancy af. It is really worth the time and effort though? Will the entire fence be more ridged? I only seeing it buying you an extra couple years over an already ~20 year lifespan of the trad joint fence. Not to mention the fancy butt-in style metal bracing you can buy nowadays(haven't tried them). They may not be cost effective and ugly, but man, each joint buddy here is recommending would take at least 5 mins with a skil-saw and in my experience, when I'm working on the fence , I just want it done.

I don't know, Where I think the win is, is people repeatably bumping into the fence (Neighbor cutting grass, kids kicking a ball against it etc.). the constant back & fourth force may weaken the fence sooner, versus the upgraded overlap method.
