I am tongue-tied, however back then it was a "wait and see for a speech issue".

My oldest was also tongue-tied and ended up in ICU at four days because he couldn't latch properly and get enough milk.

FWIW, I can't speak Spanish; I can't roll r's...it turns into a sprinkler t sound. Chose German, so no real issues there.

So this is super relevant for me. We just had the laser surgery on my daughter. The tip of her tongue was down inside her mouth and the surgery has made a big difference in a good way. Still don't trust doctors so would be interested in any additional info.

We had melaine as our lactation consultant. She wanted us to do the surgery. I called to ask my other Dr friend. The receptionist that answered the phone is also a friend and I asked the question, he said his kid has the surgery, the lady standing in front of him said, hey I had that done too and my Dr friend also had it done. It just sounded IMPOSSIBLE that a rare as fuck thingy has 4 people right there having the same issue.

I said fuck that not doing it. Baby ended up in 65% for weight and 95% for height at 12 months.

It sounds like a fucking grift. They tried to say my son had it and his pediatrician laughed and said no. My daughter however you could clearly see her tongue rolled down. From my dumb POV it appears to have made sense for her but nothing makes sense anymore.

Yeah parents are totally scared that their kid might have a lisp and sound faggy they don't even want to try speech therapy when it happens they'll just go to the surest route and tongue tie to prevent any kind of speech impediments

I didn’t know that they were getting dentists involved. Previously it was a pediatrician who did it or an ENT.

My 2 week old granddaughter has been diagnosed with severe tongue tie, is still fairly uncommon here in the UK supposedly. She's having a minor operation(non Laser) , scissors is what they use here.

It's always been a thing. It's a minor thing though so parents almost forget about it and it sin't talked about.
