Differing sources are incomplete about Batryn's motive, with most MSM articles outright omitting it. He was apparently pissed that the council was about to approve a large increase in bonuses to the village head at least, possibly other council members (vague sources). All 26 people in the room sustained injuries. Surprisingly, everyone including Batryn himself survived, with six listed in critical condition. Those grenades must really suck.

This article seems to have the most details, but it's still shitty journalism.

Grenades will kill but,are designed to cause injuries to multiple opponents and require more personal to be "out of action".

Yes. An honorable way to stand up against corruption if you ask me, but he failed, and apparently everyone survived, including himself. First reports said he died, and later reports said they detected a heartbeat and put him into urgent care. He even held that third grenade. Like I said before: Those guys have really shitty grenades; neither the concussive blast nor the shrapnel did their job.
