I'm starting to lift heavy again so I can look like Arnold in Terminator and walk naked into bars.

I've always maintained decent strength but focused more on speed, agility and endurance if I'm honest. Now I'm bored with that and want to be what they call "Chad Thundercock". Squatted, benched, and rowed decently heavy amounts for the first time in a long time today after 10 hours at work. It's great, I can still feel "the pump" and can already tell I won't be able to walk tomorrow.

Maybe you should lift heavy like me and we can walk naked into bars togeth...well...not together. That would be weird. People might think the wrong thing about us. But the point is this: I just wanted to make a post on GoatFitnessClub because it's been awhile and the whole point of the subverse was for Goats to inspire other Goats to quit being fat fucks. You're welcome.

5x5...it's the literal 5x5 strong lift program. I have a really complex combination of simple routines I do. Unfortunately, every now and then I tend to tweak something in my lower back so I stopped with the heavy stuff. I thought it would be interesting to tweak the 5x5 routine though in the following way. Normally, if you can successfully do 5 sets of 5 at a weight, the next time, you simply up the weight a little bit. Instead of that, I'd keep the weight the same, but take reps from the last set, and add them to the first until I was doing one set of 25 at that weight. Then I'd up the weight, and repeat.

That was fun and all, but....I'm bored with that now, and have gone back to 5x5. Going to do that until I get to 225 on bench, row and squat, 135 on overhead press, and 315 on deadlift. THEN...I do the thing where I eventually get to one set of 25 at those weights.

I do 5x5 also but swapped deadlifts to power cleans due to this guy

You really don't have to limit it to one or the other. You can be fit in any combination of ways. Personally, I've always trained to know I could chase a group of guys in the woods for a few miles and still have the strength and energy left over to fuck their shit up.

High reps is the way to go. You have to deplete your glycogen stores and get the body to create more storage. That's where volume comes from. Bulk represents endurance, not strength. You can still be strong, but women only care about bulk.

I always found it helpful to sit in a jacuzzi for at least 10 min after, it really cut the soreness and helped recovery. It was the difference between walking normally the next day and not.

I run 5 miles in 45 minutes, do four standing quarter miles at 9.5 miles per hour, and, lastly, do a sprint workout routine. I'll get my muscles as strong as I can while not sacrificing those things.

The whole "look like Arnold thing" was just a good title. I actually want to be able to kick Arnold's ass.
