I installed Codeium (a GPTChat supposedly). I asked it to find the directory with the most files with the .CFC extension under a base directory. It just told me to use grep, lawrz.
While it is a nice assist to a developer, most of what I find possibly useful so far (only used it for a couple days) is to more quickly create a code template or a very specific code block that I would normally look up online. So there it saves time. Writing a bug-free, moderate-level program that does what the user wants on its own? Not a chance. Especially once business rules come into play. Also, dealing with databases, which are essentially business-rule driven components, at all is out of the question as well.
no they're not.... there have been many posts on the internet since the plandemic started (and they're still being posted) about how people with CS degrees cannot get work.
the main response always is: "they are just bad programmers", which implies we live in a meritocracy - and that has never been true in the history of the United States, and the only meritocracy that ever existed in Europe was the Third Reich, which was destroyed. So it is thoroughly unfounded to assert that "the good programmers" are simply getting jobs based on merit.
Secondly, Americans are economically retarded (I mean it - i'm not trying to insult here, though it is frustrating, admittedly), and NEVER account for the ultra, super saturation of the computer programmer job market. there is NO WAY each and every single programmer did not see the sheer glut of students flooding the CS department at WHATEVER university you went to. yet somehow, those big brains never have it occur to them that there is an oversupply and there aren't enough jobs out there, but rather they assert the fallacy above that we live in a meritocracy in some vain, narcissistic rant.
CS isn't saturated. Information Technology is. Don't confuse code monkeys with Computer Scientists.
I can find a million adderall addicted javascript kids to fill a programming role in a week. Finding an ACTUAL Computer Scientist to do ACTUAL Computer Science is a lot more difficult.
Finding an ACTUAL Computer Scientist to do ACTUAL Computer Science is a lot more difficult.
the "real" programmers. god you're like those negroes calling themselves "real niggers". you're also missing addressing many other points i purposely didn't bring up to filter anyone trying to dictate stuff to me just like you did. you're not even mentioning diversity hiring
I can find a million adderall addicted javascript kids to fill a programming role in a week.
and because you can't find the "real" computer scientists doesn't mean the slots aren't getting filled anyway. NO ONE is refraining from hiring for a position like those simply because they'd prefer foregoing market share instead of hiring a "fake" computer scientists.
the system is not working.
CS isn't saturated.
yes it fucking is. it is overflowing at the brim and not even a little. you cannot come up with an explanation defending the idea that there "aren't enough people in CS" - focus on the number of people - don't side step it and try making it about something else. you just told me about the people you're jealous of with adderall prescriptions.
Finding an ACTUAL Computer Scientist to do ACTUAL Computer Science is a lot more difficult.

Computer Scientists aren't the ones running around acting like AI is an existential threat to us. But, you'll start to see a lot of people who have non-CS technical degrees (like Information Technology) get wiped the fuck out.
There's a number of people who have been riding along as if they are Computer Scientists, like programmers, and can "pass" as Computer Scientists if they need to look the part. But, most people, even programmers themselves, don't understand that Programming IS NOT Computer Science. So, the Adderall addicted Code Monkeys all of a sudden find themselves in the same throwaway category with the Pajeets. And the REAL Computer Scientists are looking down at them and are saying "I never knew you".
Other Anon is mad he isn't able to gain acceptance as a "Chosen One" among the esoteric class.
You're doing the meritocracy fallacy I previously stated. We don't live in a meritocracy and never did.
I think you've massively overblown your abilities.
Don't defend it though. This is but 1 symptom of they ultra super saturation if the field. Everyone thinks their arcane knowledge is THE qualifying factor. And the list of fallacies go on and on and it's exactly a symptom of ultra super saturation of job applicants. This is WELL documented in current year
Meritocracy works, you are just mad meritocracy puts you down at the same level as the pajeets.
ha HAAAA! bitch!! i knew someone was going to work this angle! called it out before you uttered a single word about it.
you have to prove a meritocracy exists before you stand a chance at convincing me CS degree holders are being employed based on merit.
don't even bother with more adhominem attacks faggot. i'm not going to counter them, but I will say you're just wishfully thinking that based on the same fallacy professors have that only the people with low grades call out their classes as bullshit.
Did you notice how you couldn't even try to have an intelligent conversation about semaphores?
i mastered semaphores and i have no idea why you picked that unsophisticated topic for me to perform the digital equivalent of a parlor trick to prove something to you.
CS isn't saturated. Low level information tech is.
Why in the fuck are you changing the subject to IT? I'm not talking about IT, i don't care whether it is or isn't saturated and that has no effect on CS.
You're going to have to make a case that CS isn't saturated because there are 100s and 100s of stories online now thoroughly proving that people cannot get jobs, and it does not have anything to do with merit. if the industry needed 100k programmers and there were only 5k shitty programmers lingering about, they'd be hired instantly. this all started during covid when I posted several fake stories online about someone "swallowing their pride" and talking about how i couldn't get a job in CS. As i predicted there were people who didn't understand why they couldn't get a job, and there were people with too much pride to admit it. These people DO NOT lack quality credentials that a merit-seeking company would hire for. And again, you haven't even addressed diversity hiring displacing workers with merit - america HAS NEVER BEEN a meritocracy and it isn't one now.
The problem here is a run-of-the-mill american running their mouth in total ignorance of economics. Do you even understand what supply and demand is?? You must also answer this question and explain supply and demand before i begin to take you seriously because you have (an impossible) uphill battle here; you first have to state the amount of programmers there are and then state the industry demand number...
your mind is already beginning to unravel and you're understanding how retarded you are. you CANNOT become correct here. just admit defeat and that you're a faggot
also, you're operating in void territory with this statement. we are not even discussing whether meritocracy works or not, which.... what? could you please do some critical thinking and state for me a case AGAINST meritocracy that makes a case that it doesn't work?
god, you're so fucking mad and i'm laughing my ass off at owning your ass here. lmao calm down, angry fag
