If you can't eat cheer meat everyday and you want to buy things like cold cuts how do you tell how much filler is in there? The answer is you look at the ratio of protein to carbohydrates. The higher the ratio the less corn syrup water and starch they've added to the baloney salami or whatever.
It's absolutely unbelievable to me that if you go in and buy things even like a brand name like Oscar Mayer baloney that you're going to see chicken or pork is the first ingredients and then you're going to see water and then you're going to see corn syrup. They freaking add sweeteners to every kind of meat there is these days. It's just unbelievable. Meat is supposed to taste like meat not candy. It's kind of disgusting. It's probably really bad for your body for it to be tricked into thinking it's eating meat and then suddenly corn syrup is slid inside there and it's probably making it metabolize the corn syrup in some weird way.
Turns out meat doesn't need much to preserve it. It will last weeks in the fridge under a vacuum seal. Or put salt on it and on a rack to dry age. Eat one big steak every other day and you won't need garbage in between.
