Try installing the same card in another slot. If its 0/2, safe to say the card died.

After that, look on any other forums to see if others are running into a similar issue as you and if they have found any fixes.

Try the fixes, and if everything is still shit, would see if there's a RMA policy for the card manufacturer.

if there's a RMA policy for the card manufacturer.

yeah i'm going to talk to support in case that the two cables are a no go. if they refund me for my defective unit that's even better. though tonite i tested my 1660 ti with a few games and its struggling to hit 120 fps that the 3060 was just doing just 2 days ago

I had a similar card randomly die but I was there when it happened and saw it visibly spark.

Me too...except the spark also shot a chunk off at my forehead.

Open air cases can be cool.

Why would popping out the CMOS battery work?

[ - ] bonghits4jeebus 4 points 1.4 yearsDec 14, 2023 20:50:38 ago (+4/-0)

It resets the BIOS, though I'm not sure what good that would do.

There are other ways to do that, although I suppose if you can't get video at all

[ - ] Jinglebanger 0 points 1.4 yearsDec 16, 2023 15:25:28 ago (+0/-0)

That's weird. Years ago I would have said you were having an IRQ conflict or something like that. Are you using a program that modifies the BIOS firmware or something? It would be strange for the BIOS to keep corrupting over and over again with the same symptom every time.

I'm just curious. I haven't seriously done any computer repair in like a decade, so probably a lot has changed.

Hopefully OP has tried rebooting to see whether the BIOS screen shows. That doesn't use any drivers so could narrow down the cause if it does show.

drivers are updated yup. there's shouldnt be any reason why it doesnt show a display signal out. i'm trying to hook it up with a display to HDMI adapter this weekend to see if the ports are faulty?

i have a 650 w power supply btw

[ - ] germ22 0 points 1.4 yearsDec 14, 2023 23:26:54 ago (+0/-0)

new drivers can have issues sometimes. If you search more specialized forums like others have suggested you should be able to find answers regarding bad drivers.
650W power supply seem a little low, but hard to say without know all the specifics of your entire PC.
If your motherboard and CPU support on board graphics, you could plug in a monitor directly into the motherboard. Then you could at least see what's going on. Check the device manager in Windows and check if the card is recognised at all. If it is, you can check the properties, and either update the driver, or roll back the driver in case the new driver has issues.

My 3060 never displayed out of the hdmi. I may have fucked it early on because my setup is weird. It's ok because I don't use it for gaming and just use it for programming (CUDA).

You might want to test if it is only the display that isn't working or if it can still do some things just to figure out how broken it is.

If you install pytorch on your system you can run in python:

import torch
torch.cuda.is_available()

Hell. If you really think it's dead I'd buy it off of you if you think the card is half functional.

[ - ] Spaceman84 1 point 1.4 yearsDec 14, 2023 20:13:06 ago (+1/-0)

Sounds like a hardware issue. Card is probably bad.

3060s seem to be having a lot of issues. Sounds like you got a bad card. If it's under warranty, I would make a claim.

Could be any number of things, from something simple and stupid up to and including a dead card or motherboard. If you can borrow a displayport-to-hdmi converter you can try it. I've also seen some TVs not like certain HDMI settings, try borrowing a computer monitor and plugging it in instead.

[ - ] dosvydanya_freedomz [op] 0 points 1.4 yearsDec 14, 2023 19:32:04 ago (+0/-0)

gonna try this weekend. just ordered one from amazon. man this card cost me 300 bucks and to go out like that so soon its a bummer, that's for sure i liked the card because i had more vram to do more gaming on it. now i'm stuck with my 1660 ti until i either fix the issue or whatever

[ - ] DeathTsunami 0 points 1.4 yearsDec 15, 2023 03:14:38 ago (+0/-0)

No other ports on the card to test?

If your 1660 is working leave both in and see if it's working when you hit desktop.

huh? which one the 3060, if so yes. that's the one that refuses to display out. the 1660ti is working perfectly though

[ - ] DeathTsunami 0 points 1.4 yearsDec 15, 2023 12:33:39 ago (+0/-0)

Eh maybe it's a power issue? looks like the 3060 pulls about 50W more.

[ - ] Murdock 0 points 1.4 yearsDec 15, 2023 01:34:50 ago (+0/-0)

Since you have 2 gpu. And 2 PCI ports..
You should install both cards.
Inside windows with the 1660, download furmark (gpu stress test) and test the 3060.. (I believe furmark allows you to select the 2nd card).
Speaking of that.. In bios and windows should show the 2nd card..
Well.. During stress test of the 3060. You will notice the card fans accelerate.
---
This way at least you will confirm that your card is "working". Because if you do not detect it on bios + windows + stress test does nothing.. = card is dead.
--
I had a different stupid issue, I changed my monitor to a new one.. And windows kept my previous config in the new monitor. No matter what I did... Same resolution + refresh rate.
I bought an display port cable (was using hdmi). And done. Solved. Finally my windows recognized the new monitor.
If you have different ports in your card and monitor, try using the others.

[ - ] dosvydanya_freedomz [op] 0 points 1.4 yearsDec 15, 2023 07:35:44 ago (+0/-0)

i dont have two pci ports, just one

[ - ] Murdock 0 points 1.4 yearsDec 15, 2023 12:43:05 ago (+0/-0)

You said your cpu is Intel F? With gpu, correct?
If that is the case, do the same.. Plug hdmi into your MB (cpu onboard graphics) and in windows, use furmark or any gpu stress test that allows you to choose the 3060 even if your display is using the Intel F.
At least you will confirm if the 3060 works..

intel F and kf variants doesnt come with gpu. without a discrete graphics card am SOL

With your 1660 ti plugged in,

1. Check your UEFI/BIOS settings, update if available.
2. Update Windows.
3. Update your Nvidia Drivers with a clean fresh install.
4. If you are able, update your monitors firmware as well.
5. Look at the physical card and make sure there is nothing out of the ordinary like burn marks or connectors that have come loose, if so, get the soldering iron and try to repair.

[ - ] dosvydanya_freedomz [op] 0 points 1.4 yearsDec 15, 2023 00:25:53 ago (+0/-0)

done

2. Update Windows.

did that earlier in the week

3. Update your Nvidia Drivers with a clean fresh install.

just did

4. If you are able, update your monitors firmware as well.

i game on an lg tv but i just checked and everything seems in order plus i have my pc hooked to my tv with my old 1660 ti and its working.

5. Look at the physical card and make sure there is nothing out of the ordinary like burn marks or connectors that have come loose, if so, get the soldering iron and try to repair.

havent done this, honestly. will check this weekend. thank you

[ - ] Swej_Ehtsag 1 point 1.4 yearsDec 15, 2023 11:30:12 ago (+1/-0)

If you are using a TV and not a monitor, there's a slight chance that your new card is set at a higher refresh rate than the TV will allow. This all depends on whether you can see the BIOS bootup screen with your new card. If you can see the bootup but everything goes dark once Windows starts loading, then it could be a setting causing your issues.

[ - ] dosvydanya_freedomz [op] 0 points 1.4 yearsDec 15, 2023 11:32:37 ago (+0/-0)

my tv allows 120 hz refresh rate. i cant see the bios because it refuses to show a display picture as "signal not found" type of message

In 39 years of computing, I've never had a problem with OSX. Brand new "windoz" computer stopped working after 2 months due to a "driver problem". Garbage.

just did a clean install tonight of my nvidia drivers and updated the computer bios as well. i dont think my hardware is failing is just that the card port might be damage or something. this weekend i will have a better idea of whats going on

Different question. Do you have any kind of bracket in place holding the card up? Any kind of external support aside from the motherboard and the connection to the back of the PC?

I bought a video card and got a bracket to hold it up to keep it steady. I noticed that I was having power draw issues and one day, the card randomly died. I sent the card back and got a different one. The one thing that I noticed was that the new one worked flawlessly, and then I realized that the bracket was forcing the video card into a position where it was not connected snug to the motherboard slot.

[ - ] dosvydanya_freedomz [op] 0 points 1.4 yearsDec 14, 2023 20:18:47 ago (+0/-0)

Different question. Do you have any kind of bracket in place holding the card up?

good question the card is standing on the bracket. (i have a tower PC) and yes parts of it where misaligned the bracket but those were the displayport not the HDMI port which was still unmolested and visible.

do you think that lack of support has anything to do with it? strange since this card has been on my pc since july of this year

[ - ] AlexanderMorose13 1 point 1.4 yearsDec 14, 2023 20:25:55 ago (+1/-0)

It's possible. You can try removing the bracket for a few days and see if there's any change to graphics card's power output. It might be that the damage has already been done and the card will no longer work. I would get a new one if at all possible and test it without a bracket and with a different bracket or a better one that doesn't push the card into a position where it is easy to remove from the motherboard without additional support.
