These are not wide eyes, these are wide-set eyes. They are associated with aliens.

Wide (big round) eyes are associated with youth, innocence, and docility.
Narrow “hunter” eyes are assassins with physical prowess, strength, and aggressiveness.

I don't have an answer to your question, mainly because I don't see why it matters, BUT...

Somethings for you to consider...beauty IS NOT in the eye of the beholder. As in, it's actually not subjective. It's a matter of hard cold math.

John Cleese, of all people, did a BBC mini-documentary series called "The Human Face". It's fascinating. You should watch it. One entire episode was entirely about the concept of human beauty. It's the most fascinating episode of them all. You should especially watch that one, specifically because of the nature of your question.

It would be difficult for me to, in a comment, explain the entire hour long episode to you, but I will point out the ending. They found an American plastic surgeon. He wasn't the kind of plastic surgeon that worked on trophy wives though, he specialized in fixing disfigured people who were in car wrecks, or were born with abnormalities, etc...

Typically, he'd ALWAYS fix the structural problem. For instance, if someone were in a car wreck and now their jaw was so fucked they couldn't chew, it wasn't actually that complicated for him to know how to make their jaw chew again. And 99 times out of 100 it would make the person look better, as you'd expect, because they went from being disfigured to being..idk..."figured"...? But you understand my point, if you're face is too fucked up to chew right, you also probably look fucked up, and if they fix your face so that you can chew again, you're going to look more normal, and thus look less fucked up, or, to use a word, ugly. You'd look more attractive, to put it another way.

BUT...there were those 1 out of a 100 cases where he'd still fix their functional problem, but they'd end up looking even less attractive, and this really messed with his head. So he decided he needed to figure out what "beauty" actually is.

I need to do some shit this morning, so to make a long story short, he found what beauty is to be The Golden Ratio - 1:1.618

It's a concept worth looking up. Basically, in the faces of people society seems to universally deem "beautiful"...you constantly find the Golden Ratio all over the place. For instance, nostrils...yes, their fucking nostrils. In a beautiful person, if one nostril is 1, then both added together would be 1.618. Eyes: if the space between the eyes is 1, then the span from the outside of one eye to the outside of the other is consistently 1.618. You literally find this ratio all over beautiful peoples faces and bodies.

Trends only last for three years max so it's not a trend if it's been happening more than three years. And if it's common then it can't be a trend. How can something be common and a trend at the same time???
