i’m trying to remove the nut on a gas tube to replace furniture on an ak. nut is stuck on solid. its a PSA gf3. watching videos, i’m pretty sure its reverse thread, but don’t know for sure because none of the videos are PSA aks. PSA is useless for product support and manuals say nothing. i’m going to destroy the gas tube if i go in either direction. all internet videos the nut comes off without issues and without a vise. i am definitely having an issue.
what is a good forum to get answers to these types of questions answered?
ever try to email PSA? the contact form is impossible. every question you ask, another mandatory field pulldown menu comes up, and eventually you can’t answer the questions they ask you, and you realize why the fuck am i being asked questions about their fucking product, and why have they set up this gauntlet to ask them a simple question about their product
tried both. the chat is a bot that only answers pre-programed questions. the phone number goes to a robot as well, and will not put you in contact with a human.
That's just the price right now. Put it into perspective. 1) It's not like it's real money anymore anyway. 2) How many handbuilt AK's do you think you'll need to buy in your lifetime that you can literally bet your life on? 3) How much do you think you'd be willing to pay for that same rifle the day AFTER the lights go out and the niggers come knocking?

No need to take that off to get the hand guard off. Generally heat will break loose nuts; get some heat resistant gloves and mag dump three 30 rounders then see if it moves.
and like most of my problems that when i finally throw in the towel and ask for help, i figured out i don’t need to remove that nut, and the handguard just spins into place.
would still like a recommendation for a good how-to forum though

I read your post like three times trying to figure out what you were trying to do before scrolling down and seeing this... I was thinking to my self "You should not need any tools to remove a AK hand guard." Sometimes with old wood furniture you need the grip strength of the hulk to rotate it though
yeh i watched videos they were using a 3/4 wrench to remove the upper gas tube guard. i thought they were removing a nut, but they were just using the wrench to brace the tube.
