Drinking water makes me feel like shit

submitted by OriginalGoat to AskUpgoat 5 monthsDec 12, 2023 21:01:07 ago (+23/-0)     (AskUpgoat)

I drink water, not a lot. In the summer I drink it a lot but it makes me feel tired and groggy.

Thought water was supposed to be a miracle beverage.

Should I be taking electrolytes or something to help the water hydrate me better?

It seems to just pass through without absorbing. I piss so much when I'm on the water.

Is it my diet? My guts? I want to help my body but it seems to reject all attempts at healthiness.

I'm doing something wrong. Getting more tired despite being more active. Getting less limber, feeling unhealthy and mentally drained.

I drink water, sleep 7-8 hours, eat homemade meals, cut sugar. Still feeling hampered.

Any advice to reinvigorate my weary bones?

I'm 35.

Why the fuck aren't the other comments mentioning electrolytes.

The most obvious and first thing to take into consideration is salt.

Hydration and salt levels fluctuate quickly.

People think salt is bad but they’ve never cooked real food from scratch. The body requires a lot of salt.

Redmonds salt brand.

[ - ] Had 2 points 5 monthsDec 13, 2023 08:06:59 ago (+2/-0)

No. It is full of aluminum. Same story for baja, celtic, and himalayan. Vera salt is the only one that is tested and confirmed to have basically no aluminum and no micro plastics.

It gets plastic in it from being stored in a plastic container. Not all of the mined salts have micro plastics (though they probably do from being stored in a plastic container), but Celtic does because it is from the ocean and stored in plastic. The mined salts have aluminum. Don't ask me how, it is in their mineral analysis though.

Vera salt is the only one guaranteed to have no micro plastics or aluminum. It is in a potato starch container and never touches a plastic unlike basically everything else in our lives.

Absolutely fuck himalayan. If you have some, try this. Wash the salt. See what color it is afterward. It's clear. The salt isn't actually pink. So then what's pink? They just left mining mud on the salt. Mining mud rich in heavy metals.

It's just salt + dirt. And as far as dirt goes it's dirt you shouldn't be eating.

[ - ] texasblood -1 points 5 monthsDec 13, 2023 08:18:38 ago (+1/-2)

Not all salt is the same.
Especially the slander against Celtics.
Just because you believe something does not make it truth.
Legit celtic salt has no plastics mined from such depths

[ - ] Had 0 points 5 monthsDec 14, 2023 11:26:36 ago (+0/-0)

Celtic salt isn't "mined from such depths", it's fucking sea salt son. It is literally from evaporated ocean water. It is also stored in a plastic container while being shipped. Enjoy paying extra for the microplastics and aluminum.

[ - ] texasblood 0 points 5 monthsDec 14, 2023 14:49:11 ago (+1/-1)

Again you prove what you know is true because you believe it.
Extreme depth harvesting(mining)is what it is.
If you had a son you asshole birthed that faggott spawn.

Salt is extremely important in so many ways... ive gotten to the point where I just take a small shot of very salty water every morning

Are you drinking tap water? Does your tap water have fluoride in it? Is it chlorinated?

[ - ] x0x7 7 points 5 monthsDec 12, 2023 23:28:43 ago (+7/-0)

I had issues with water. I figured out it was because I was drinking out of plastic and re-using the bottles forever. The plastic begins to break down and you dose yourself in plastic more. I found myself constantly needing simultaneously more water and less.

Then I started using a mug for my drinking glass and I'm drinking way less water and feeling way better.

[ - ] qwop 2 points 5 monthsDec 13, 2023 09:07:07 ago (+2/-0)

Not only does the plastic break down, but it gets dirty on the inside where bacteria can grow. Even if you wash it it doesn't help that much. If you scrub it, it will get scratched, leaving more surface area for bacteria. Eventually you'll have your own private petri dish for your water to sit in.

Glass is best, and wash regularly even if just drinking water from it.

My mom used to have a small glass jug of water by her bedside. She rinsed and changed the water every evening. I once ran my finger on the inside and notice a slimy biofilm on it. After long-term use even clean water leads to biofilms on glass. So a proper scrub is needed every once in a while to avoid the petri dish effect.

[ - ] Thought_Criminal 0 points 5 monthsDec 13, 2023 09:32:10 ago (+0/-0)

Some bleach and water mixed will kill that slime.

[ - ] x0x7 0 points 4 monthsJan 6, 2024 14:39:01 ago (+0/-0)

See, but you don't want plastic around that long anyway. I used to use bleach water when I was drinking out of a big glass jug back in the day. In the end it wasn't practical using something that big. But bacteria love glass more than plastic. Plastic is like automatically half sterile because it's toxic. But bacteria slimes love glass so its a good case for bleach if you have something too big or vacuous to be cleaned well by a dishwasher.

ITS GOT ELECTROLYTES

it’s what the plants crave

[ - ] VitaminSieg 6 points 5 monthsDec 12, 2023 22:47:02 ago (+6/-0)

Take iodine. Iodine is thyroid food.

[ - ] AlexanderMorose13 3 points 5 monthsDec 12, 2023 23:09:10 ago (+3/-0)

^This. This was going to be my suggestion as well. Most of what you're talking about seems linked to an iodine deficiency. I switched to purified alkaline water a few years ago and take iodine in liquid form every few months when I feel like my allergies or fatigue seem to be getting worse.

I'm around the same age as well.

[ - ] Hall_of_Cost 6 points 5 monthsDec 12, 2023 22:18:31 ago (+6/-0)

You're 36 and you probably need more vitamin D but maybe get some lab work done.

[ - ] s23erdctfvyg 6 points 5 monthsDec 12, 2023 21:19:53 ago (+6/-0)

Tap water from a well in the middle of nowhere? Or city tap water?
If it's the former buy a water filter.
If it's the latter, move.

If that doesn't work, reduce the caffeine you are consuming as it will make water go straight through you.

[ - ] Lost_In_The_Thinking 5 points 5 monthsDec 12, 2023 21:41:35 ago (+5/-0)

Don't drink tap water or distilled water. Bottled spring water is a bit questionable because it might have garbage put into it after it's been taken from the spring, such as fluoride.

You don't ever need to take electrolytes. And water is supposed to flow through you because you body only needs so much water, and it excretes the excess through urination.

I'd think about getting a water filter that would filter out fluoride and chemicals that "sanitize" the water, like chlorine. I never drink straight tap water. It's horrible.

But the bottom line is that you should only drink when you're thirsty. You don't need to load up and over-consume it because your body doesn't need it except when your body tells you to.

[ - ] big_fat_dangus 5 points 5 monthsDec 12, 2023 21:11:21 ago (+5/-0)

Get your thyroid levels checked.

It could be a lot of things, here's my take on it:

Try adding electrolytes to your water and see if there's a difference in energy levels, both physical & mental. I usually buy Hydralite effervescent tablets.

That's how I figured out I had a magnesium deficiency. I take vit D regularly and it uses Mg when being metabolized so it was draining me of an essential mineral.

Potassium also has a positive effect on mental energy.

Find a White non kike doctor and get some tests done. They can check your blood and stick tubes up your butt and down your throat to see if there are any issues.

Taking nutritional suggestions or playing guessing games is for retards.
Get a high end HTMA test and stop guessing what your levels, ratios and deficiencies are.

That being said it’s almost impossible the water has anything to do with it, unless you’re drinking distilled or reverse osmosis water.

Try some better water. Tap water is shit -> flouride and chlorine. Cheap bottled water is ass. Try some Icelandic, Fiji, Evian, etc.

You're prediabetic.

Iodized salt on vegetables/meat, and/or zero-sugar/cal Gatorade if you're lazy. Also check the container and source of the water.

[ - ] fuck_usernames 2 points 5 monthsDec 12, 2023 23:19:10 ago (+2/-0)

Cut out the Fluoride water or introduce Iodine to flush it out if you can't.
Iodoral, for example...

Get all the vitamins that have been mentioned in other comments, and also start taking boron. You need 6 mg/day. It will make a huge difference in how your body handles water, especially if you don't feel thirsty like you used to.

[ - ] Ragnar 1 point 5 monthsDec 12, 2023 23:58:23 ago (+1/-0)

Add electrolytes. And sugar.
Reduce exercise.

But you should get a blood panel done to make sure something serious isn’t off.

DO NOT GET LAB WORK
DO NOT GUVE THEM YOUR BLOOD
DO NOT
DO NOT DO THAT

Do a test. Stop drinking water and for a week or so, drink only some other drink or drink a different water in a bottle or filter it or something. Just as a test to figure out if it’s the water. Also after the week or two, drink your current water again and see if symptoms return

Blood tests are useless. Most substances are in/out of your bloodstream in hours or days.
You need a Hair Tissue Mineral Analysis. An HTMA can tell all your mineral, vitamin and toxin levels, and then some. And it can tell what it’s been over a period of time.

[ - ] boekanier 2 points 5 monthsDec 13, 2023 01:05:38 ago (+2/-0)

That's good advice, try it out for yourself to see what's wrong. And forget about a doctor, he only prescribes pills that do everything except take away the ailment
