On a scale of 1-10 with 1 being less important, it's a 1-2(max) for me. I got lots of family, friends and activities for my "social needs". That said, it also is a source for information I don't find elsewhere. In that regard, it is closer to a 4-5.

A message board is social media, which is a virtual substitute for social interaction. In other words, it's lame. Voat is a combination of entertainment and information that is detached from the actual people who post it. So the actual answer for anyone should be "not at all important".
