Better than moving closer to earth.

I don't believe they can accurately measure this. The scientific community has a very liberal creative licence. Especially when it comes to making headlines.

What's the estimated error range, or margin of error of their measuring equipment?

5 inches? 5 feet? 50 feet?

By beaming laser pulses at the reflector from Earth, scientists have been able to determine the round-trip travel time that gives the distance between the two bodies at any time to an accuracy of about 3 centimeters.

Computers and laser rangefinders are a thing, but this is probably THE edge case.

Maybe the Earth is just getting 1.5 inch smaller every year. Science.

As far as I know, NASA has a laser based technology that can measure objects in space pretty well. I remember a recent article from TIL.

Yes. Believe everything NASA says. Of course.

The moon's orbit is not perfectly circular, so a laser will record varying distances every hour of every day forever. This stinks like Climate Science. The government fudges all numbers on all things.

I mean... The alternative is believing you. Or the guy asking what the margin of error or what type of measuring equipment they use, after saying the things they clearly know nothing about are false.

I don't believe the kike either but it's not like we're stuck in the garden of eden and have to use the snake from the tree to measure shit.

Even the moon thinks the Earth is too full of niggers, and is getting the fuck out.

there is NO WAY to make measurements like that with any accuracy, wtf niggaz

Wasn't the universe expanding constantly anyway? Is the distance to the sun growing, too?

[ - ] Grospoliner 0 points 4 monthsDec 10, 2023 16:00:01 ago (+0/-0)

Based on Redshift yes.

The Earth-Sun distance would increase when the Sun starts losing mass as it burns through its hydrogen stock. At some point in the next few billion years the Sun should begin its phase change into a red giant and planetary orbits will be disrupted causing most of them to escape.

Moon is about 380 000 km away from us. I see a pattern of "give approximate and feel smart".
