Your airship has too many sections. Make it have 6 sections.

The point is if any section fails, it will still float. Hence 8. You're right though, if we were only doing small drones, even 4 would be better. But this is the model we plan to scale up to house size eventually.

yep, I'm up to 3 now. It's addictive and fairly cheap.
I skimmed the paper way back when, I have similar interests (autonomous mobile entities, civilian defense).
Would be interested to see it or try to print it. I don't remember if you stated a propulsion method (ie: how they go/stay up).

Hydrogen for lift. With the ballonets encased in pure nitrogen. Dyson Air Multipliers all around connected via ducts to the central impeller fan at the bottom to cut weight. Solar panels up top, graphene ultracapacitors for overnight storage.
