A few years ago I went to visit my wife's uncle. He was an older man who walked with a cane but still got around okay. He'd been smoking a pack or two a day since his teens and chain smoked while telling stories of the war. I was shocked when it was not Vietnam, but Germany he spoke of. He passed a few years after that but definitely that man was the last WW2 veteran I've ever personally met. He told a lot of stories about life back in the 50s and 60s. Seemed like paradise honestly.
