2. You register on Business Solutions Society with the username Bizbro, email of [email protected], and ip address of 127.0.0.2
3. You register on Cooking Central with the username Donkers, email of [email protected], and ip address of 127.0.0.1

Five years later, those sites have all been hacked and their databases dumped. A service called borkedresource.ru collects all those databases and allows inter-database search for the sum of $1 for 24 hours of access.

An internet sleuth visits bokredresource.ru and searches for Boobik. She locates an ip address of 127.0.0.1. She searches for 127.0.0.1 and finds [email protected]. She searches [email protected] and finds your username of Bizbro which contains identifiable information. There can be more points in this chain of sleuthing.
