Nvidia's Computational Lithography Breakthrough

This 15 minute video is about making feature sizes smaller than the wavelength of the light used. It goes through the history smaller features and shorter wavelengths leading up to OPC, Optical Proximity Correction. Then it talks about the fancier technique ILT, Inverse Lithography technology. ILT requires too much computer power, and Nvidia have found ways to use GPU's to speed it up 42 times.

GPU scarcity and prices.

related:

Nvidia was ordered by the US government to ban export of 4090's to China - because they fear Chinese A.I. research.

But they were given a month (ban starts November 17th). So Nvidia is probably diverting virtually all supply to China while they can. These regulations don't seem to restrict third parties from buying and then reselling to china for a premium. So scalpers have an avenue there.

It looks like Nvidia is saying that there are more reasons for GPU scarcity and price increases, of course it benefits them so they are happy.

Seems appropriate given that the name for the chip, cuLitho, sounds too close to culito, which apparently is a diminutive version of the word culo (which is Spanish for ASS). You'd think a company whose name derives from the Spanish word for envy would know this, but nope.

Blows my mind that people still care about this shit. But it’s cool because in 20 years, I’ll look into it again and I’m sure we’ll see some cool stuff. Although I’d say it’s been diminishing returns since the PS3/Xbox360 days.

To think: There are still episodes of The Simpsons being made. If I should choose to one-day give a shit, there would literally be 25+ years of new seasons to watch.

Yeah, lots of retards can't understand this type of thing. It's pretty common.
