Hell, even today I'm halfway keeping an eye on a few of the kids I subbed for. They're good kids, but I'm just waiting on them to "prove me right". Prove me right on my assumptions on people, even upcoming adults, teenagers, and show me what I already know. Because, unfortunately for me, knowing these kids when they were smaller, I know there's a good young man or woman there. But they don't get to break the rules. Blasphemy? Hostile. Fucking outside of marriage? Hostile. Nigger lover? Hostile.
And as time has gone on, I've just been checking off the list. They fuck up one way or another and that's a wrap.
I'm tired of hoping for anything better when I know it's not possible. I'm just waiting on "the youth" to show the truth of where things are going. Maybe then it'll kill whatever I've got left and I can move on.
