Probably the most useful knot out there. Learn a square knot and a slip knot and you have a decent base of useful knots for everyday things. Throw a clove hitch and a half hitch into the mix and you are pretty golden. Furthermore if you know a half hitch, a bowline, and a simple overhand knot and you can literally tie anything to anything, even itself.

At 9s you have a small loop. Fold it up onto the straight string behind it, to make a phi
