There have been allegations that the LASD is full of cop gangs. It was a factor for the LA County Sheriff’s race where the incumbent was seen as brushing it under the rug. The winner campaigned on removing the gangs from the sheriff's department.

I have no evidence connecting this news with the past alleged activities though...just interesting.
