There were excerpts from a book posted here, that took the form of a letter from a father to a son. This was a long time ago. It said there was a man -- or particular group of men -- that would tell them when it was time to hoard or dump commodities, ahead of manipulations rooted in the money market that would predictably inflate or suppress the value of such.
It's kind of like the 51% attack in Bitcoin. If you hold influence over enough money, it's not gambling. You just set the rules of the market, and everyone else is taken for a ride. They are sure losers, over the long term, and you are a sure winner.
