Not like there's anything else we can do. Welfare is only enough to live on if you know a property owner willing to let you rent a bedroom at below market rates and you aren't allowed to save up enough money to survive for even a month if you were to be cutoff for whatever reason.

I don't feel like ending up in prison just because I saved up what amounts to pocket change for a rainy day. I'm already at my savings limit and forced to engage in wasteful spending just to stay legal.
